Being a mineral collector is not just about rocks. It is an excuse to get out and see the world.
Rock hounding provides a unique opportunity to get closer to nature and explore new places.
Rocks and Minerals are an outlet to creativity, through jewelry making, specimen trimming, and displaying.
Hunting rocks is in my blood. Both of my parents shared an affinity for rock collecting which they acquired from my grandparents, and so on: the story goes back through generations. Collecting rocks is a chance to see the world, a chance to hold history in your hands, a way to connect with people. Here you will find the rocks I have found, and only those, and perhaps a story too.
My Father started taking me collecting at an early age. One of my earliest memories was hunting garnets in Connecticut. I also remember visiting pegmatites and my father tirelessly chipping Beryl and schorl Tourmaline out of cliffs and pits. Fast forward 40 years and you will still find us collecting together along with my step-son. We try to have a big trip at least once a year. Where to next? Wherever our passion and curiosity take us!
For me, finding rocks is happiness. I don't need them all, but I love to find them. So here they are. My rocks, my specimens, which I have found myself. No 'Blood Diamonds' here, no commercially mined minerals by poor souls being paid barely enough to survive. These are my rocks. I can tell you the story of every one. I hope they bring you as much joy as they have brought me.
Best Regards, William Parker
